Charles Dickens () was born in Landport, Hampshire, during the new industrial age, which gave birth to theories of Karl Marx. Dickens's father was a clerk in the navy pay office. He was well paid but often ended in financial troubles. In Dickens moved to London, and then to Chatham, where he received some education. Simultaneous with issuing the last parts of each novel, Dickens' and Thackeray's publishers routinely removed the ads that appeared at the beginning and at the end of each part, removed the illustrated plates found together after the ads and before the text, replaced them at intervals within the text, then bound-up the remaining, continuously paginated parts and published them . This complete collection of Adelaide Procter's poetry contains a memorial biography written by Charles Dickens in at the request of her family. Dickens' Introduction discusses Procter's domestic experiences and literary work as well as relates family anecdotes which illustrate her personal character.
